Boingo Claims iPad is Second Most Popular Device

WiFi provider Boingo Wireless announced that the Apple iPad is the second most-connected non-laptop device on its networks. This means that a huge chunk of iPad users are connected to Boingo WiFi venues, which are located in 58 US airports, several sporting arenas, convention centers, and on Washington State Ferries.

The leading device is still the iPhone, also from Apple, which accounts for nearly 90 percent of all non-laptop connections. The iPad, meanwhile, accounts for 5.4 percent of total connections.

The report, however, is different from the results shown from comScore, which claims that RIM and its BlackBerry platform is the top choice among smartphone subscribers in the US, with 43.1 percent of the market. Apple, represented by iPhone and other devices, represented 25.4 percent.
