It is not just the big names that have gotten into the phablet market. Consumers seeking low-priced alternatives would be happy to learn there are giant smartphones out there that fit their needs. The BLU Studio 5.5 has all the good things you would hope for a high-quality phablet: a slim 9.5mm profile, stock Android 4.2, quad-core 1.2GHz Mediatek processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (expandable to 32GB), 4G HSPA+ connectivity, and a 5.5-inch FWVGA LCD touch screen with 854 x 480 resolution.
Meanwhile, its 5-megapixel rear-facing camera comes with auto-focus, LED flash, and 1080p HD video recording capability. The BLU Studio 5.5 also comes with dual unlocked SIM slots and a wide variety of color choices. The device receives updates through over-the-air Wireless Update Feature.
“We love making big phones, and making them affordable to the mass market,” said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products, said in a press statement. “We believe in the trend for larger screens, it lets you see and do everything on your smartphone as a heightened experience, and at the same time it’s becoming a fashion statement. We are doing it in style with plenty of colors for our loyal fans to choose from, in addition to our dedication and focus on performance.”
The BLU Studio 5.5 will be available in Amazon and Best Buy for only $179 unlocked. It will also roll over to 30 countries in Latin America, including Brazil and Mexico.
