Biblio Leaf SP02 is Japan's Answer to Kindle

Toshiba and KDDI, Japan’s second largest mobile carrier, have announced the Biblio Leaf SP02 e-reader yesterday. The device features a 6-inch monochrome screen with 800 x 600 resolution, 2GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD cards), a microUSB port, 3G, WiFi, support for XMDF/ PDF/ EPUB files, as well as an integrated calendar, calculator, and notebook.

What sets it apart from the usual ebook readers is that it has a mini solar panel built at the bottom right of the gadget, which charges the internal battery. A single charge can be able to flip an estimated 7,500 pages continuously, according the Toshiba.

The Biblio Leaf SP02 will arrive in Japan in December with an open price model. No word yet whether it will become available overseas, most likely not.
