BBM Beta offers stickers, hopes to get users interested

BBM Beta stickers

In a move to reach out to the younger crowd, BBM Beta now offers stickers–those oversized emoticons you see on other messaging apps. The new feature comes with sticker packs with names like “Gilbert’s Tales,” “Bubble Bot,” and my personal favorite, “CosCat.” Each pack contains up to 25 stickers. There is also a pack of reworked BBM emoticons, blown-up for the larger new medium.

With the proliferation of messaging apps, BlackBerry Messenger still tries to keep up. While its privacy features remain the most favorable, as you can chat without having to reveal your phone number, its exclusivity with BlackBerry phones hurt the app’s chances of market domination tremendously with the rise of cross-platform chat apps like WhatsApp.

BlackBerry did not divulge how current BBM users be able to join in the limited BBM Beta so they could begin sending stickers to friends. But while you wait, the iOS and Android versions are being updated with new features, including voice calls, location sharing, and attachments.
