Netbooks may soon be a thing of the past, but there’s still room for one more. A Sweden-based tech blog reports that Asus is gearing to unveil a new member of its Vivo family: the Asus VivoBook X102BA. This Windows 8-powered netbook allegedly comes with your not-the-usual specs, such as a 1GHz dual-core AMD A4-1200 CPU, Radeon HD 8180 graphics chip, a 10.1-inch touch screen with TN panel and 1366 x 768 resolution, 32GB of free cloud storage, an option of 320GB and 500GB hard drive, and 2GB or 4GB of RAM.

The netbook is also packed with two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, HDMI, VGA, an SD card reader, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, Ethernet, and a 3.5mm headset connector. Its battery should last for about five hours of operating time.

The Asus VivoBook X102BA will supposedly include a free version of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. This would be a useful productivity tool for a lot of consumers seeking for affordable feature-packed netbooks. The blog claims this new netbook from Asus will be launched around late September for 3299 kronas VAT included (about US$507). No word which markets aside for Sweden will include the Asus VivoBook X102BA on its shelves.
