Archos has done the unthinkable: incorporating the Android OS on a high-powered touch screen media device. The company has achieved this feat by porting over its existing application layer from Linux. This results with creation of the Archos 5 Internet Tablet, with a better-performing 800MHz OMAP3440 processor, an ability to support videos with 720p resolution-including protected WMV, WMA and H.264-over HDMI. This PMP also has an optional DVR Station, which can do VGA TV recording, as well as 802.11n WiFi connectivity.
The Archos 5 Internet Tablet is available at prices ranging from US$250 to $440, depending on the optional features, which also includes an array of accessories.
