Apple introduces its latest line of MacBook Air notebooks. This time, they come with more powerful processors and even dropping $100 off its original price. The 11-inch notebook, with its 128GB of storage, now costs $899. The most premium device, meanwhile, comes with a 13-inch screen and 256GB of storage for $1,199.
The new versions of MacBook Air come with fourth-generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors, OS X Mavericks operating system, and a battery life of up to 12 hours (for the 13-inch model).
But Apple’s slew of new laptops for 2014 does not end there. Tech blog 9to5Mac has reported about Apple developing a hybrid, 12-inch MacBook Air with the performance comparable to more powerful models and the portability of smaller notebooks.
Slashing the price of the latest MacBook Air models could be a response to pro-PC folks who say that more powerful PCs can be purchased for a fraction of Apple’s basic laptops and desktops.
“With MacBook Air starting at $899, there’s no reason to settle for anything less than a Mac,” Apple’s senior vice president of marketing Phil Schiller said in a statement. “Macs have never been more popular, and today we’ve boosted the performance and lowered the price of MacBook Air so even more people can experience the perfect everyday notebook.”
The new MacBook Air notebooks are now available online, in Apple stores, and in select authorized resellers.
