The Apple Mac Pro, the much-awaited workstation, is now on sale after of teasing about the cylindrical device for over a year. Replacing its bulkier predecessor, the new Mac Pro is geared for more demanding computing chores such as video editing.

The entry-level configuration costs $3,000 and sports a 3.7GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor with 10MB memory cache, dual-core AMD FirePro D300 graphics chips with 2GB of video memory each, 12GB of 1866MHz DDR3 error-correcting memory, and a 256GB SSD with a flash memory that can be connected through PCI Express bus for a faster, more efficient performance.

The gadget also boasts of four USB 3.0 ports, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, a HDMI 1.4 port, two gigabit Ethernet ports, a headphone jack, a digital or analog audio output jack, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a built-in speaker.

If you could shell off more money, you would be able to get more perks on your Apple Mac Pro. An additional $1,000, for instance, would give your computer tower a six-core Xeon E5 with 12MB of cache, 16GB of memory, and dual-core AMD Firepro E500 graphics chips. Other upgrade options include boosting your SSD up 1GB, additional processing cores, more advanced graphics chips, and kicking up the memory up to 64GB.

Although you could get an Apple mouse or trackpad for $69, and a propriety wireless keyboard for another $69, the monitor does not come with the Apple Mac Pro package. You would have to purchase it separately, preferably Apple’s 27-inch Thunderbolt display for $1,000 or a 32-inch Sharp PN-K321 Ultra-HD display for $3,595. At least shipping is free, which starts December 30.
