Apple in Talks with Network Companies for 99-Cent Rentals via iTunes

Word is that Apple has been trying to outdo Google TV even before it becomes an established product by convincing broadcast networks to offer 99-cent TV shows for rent on iTunes, and possibly on the Apple TV as well. In fact, Bloomberg reports that News Corp is on a brink of offering Fox TV programs for 99 cents an episode. Such talks are also said to be with CBS and ABC-parent company Disney as well. We are not sure whether the episodes would be on a streaming-only basis, but the episodes are most likely to be viewable for 48 hours.

Looks like Google has a lot of talking to do.
