Alcatel showed off its latest hardware during the IFA. Leading the way is its stylus-wielding Alcatel One Touch Hero smartphone. The Android 4.2-powered handset features a 6-inch LCD touch screen with 1080p resolution, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel back-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, and your choice of 8GB or 16GB expandable internal storage.

What is most interesting about the Alcatel One Touch Hero is not the device itself, but its array of optional cover accessories. You can choose between an E-Ink cover (pictured below) that allows you to read digital books without worrying about the power-hungry main screen or a MagicFlip cover embedded with LED that displays notifications without having to open the peek on the phone’s screen. Alcatel will also provide an inductive wireless charging cover that lets you charge the device just by flipping the cover and place it on a charging plate.

Other specs include a stylus that lets you annotate and create written memos, a 3,400mAh battery, and a suite of hand-writing recognition and productivity apps.

The Alcatel One Touch Hero will be available in October. Expect a “high-end” price on this one.
