AIS Rugged Vehicle Computer

Tablet PC’s are not only getting better and faster, they are now also getting even more durable. This feature especially may have quite a number of uses in areas of work where toughness and durability is essential. And to address the need in such special areas of computing, American Industrial Systems, Inc. or AIS has introduced a new rugged vehicle computer.

The new AIS 12.1″ Rugged Vehicle Computer is designed for use in tough environments. It is designed to operate even in extreme temperatures, strong vibration, wet and other harsh environmental conditions. This new HMI Vehicle PC features a 12″ industrial LCD resistive touchscreen display. It makes use of a low-power Intel Celeron 2.0 GHz processor, 1GB DDR2 hard drive and a built-in mini-PCI Wi-Fi module. It also has its own built-in UPS Smart Battery Backup to allow 30-40 minutes operating time in case of power outages.

But what makes the new AIS Rugged Vehicle Computer interesting is its tough and rugged design. Its aluminum die-cast housing provides the environmental protection from hazards and contaminants. It is designed according to MIL-810F environmental engineering compliance for shock and vibration and drop resistance. Its IP65 sealed front bezel makes it both water and dust proof. This vehicle PC can operate within a temperature range of between -10 to 55 degrees Celsius. The AIS Rugged Vehicle Computer is definitely made for heavy and rugged work. AIS has just recently released this new and tough device. No word yet on how much it will cost.
